The calculator converts both dates to day numbers and subtracts them. From 1 January to 31 December in a non-leap year is 364 days, or 365 if you count both end dates. Decide whether your task includes the start date, the end date, both or neither, because notice periods and contracts differ.
Adding one month to 31 January has no exact answer, because February is shorter. Tools usually land on the last day of February. Check the wording in legal or bank documents when a date depends on month-end.
Every year divisible by 4 has 366 days, except century years not divisible by 400. So 2024 is a leap year, 2100 is not. The calculator handles this automatically.
Calendar days include weekends and holidays. If your deadline is in business days, count only Monday to Friday and remove public holidays that apply in your state. Always confirm the rule with the organisation that set the deadline.
